About

I started as a network engineer and became an executive, but I never stopped thinking like a builder.

I have spent much of my career connecting things: first networks and systems, then platforms, teams, organisations and countries. What interested me was never technology alone. It was what became possible when people with different experiences worked together to build something new.

The journey took me from a small, slightly rebellious team during the early years of the internet to leading large international technology organisations. It moved me from the Canary Islands to Madrid, Boston and Mexico City through successive waves of change. I saw networks evolve from IPX to IP and MPLS, systems move from Unix to Linux and physical infrastructure grow from server rooms to Tier IV data centres. Computing shifted from dedicated hardware to virtualisation and cloud. Applications moved from monoliths and tightly coupled DLLs to microservices and APIs. Data went from batch processing and enterprise data warehouses to real-time systems and data lakes. Software development evolved from scripts to artificial intelligence.

Reading that as a list makes the journey sound orderly. It was not. There were difficult projects, production incidents, late nights, strong debates, plans that changed suddenly and ideas that did not work the first time. Those experiences taught me as much about people, judgement and resilience as they did about technology.

Along the way, I travelled almost 1.5 million kilometres, worked across many cultures and made friendships that matter more to me than any system or platform.

I am now at the beginning of a new chapter. I want to use what I have learned about technology, leadership, scale and change to build something different while continuing to learn and have fun doing it.
